Grant Steering Wheel - Any ideas?

Hey everyone,

I have a 1971 conv. WITHOUT tilt/tele steering. I am interested in swaping my steering wheel with a wood one. However, I do not want to spend a fortune. I saw the Grant Steering wheels, but do not know if they will fit directly as a replacement without any type of adapter (which I dont want to do).

Any recommendations?

Grant makes a couple of steering wheels that are direct replacements for Corvette steering wheels. Getting one for a column without Tilt/tele should be easy. No extra adapter is necessary is you get the Corvette replacement steering wheel. Check the grant web site and getb the actual part numbers that will work for you.

A word of caution...

The inexpensive steering wheel from Grant is quite common on old musclecars, like Mustangs and Camaros, and having tried very hard to make them work over the years about the best I can say about them is they are crap. The fit and finish of the wood rim is about a D+ on the high-school wood shop scale, and the horn button is so poorly designed if you stand next to the car and say "pothole", the horn button falls off. Even before that, the sparking coming from the horn button makes quite a show in the dark.

Something like the Moto-Lita will give you the wood-rim look and is even better made than original equipment.
