    C2 convertible windshield install

I got all new clips and screws put in today and bought a new windshield gasket. I went ahead and put the lower molding piece on as suggested by a member in another thread.

I have a friend in the glass business and he said they charge $125 to come out and install a new windshield, which I thought was a little high seeing as how I've done most of the work. If my neighbor and I can't get it back in then I might think about calling him. We put the previous one in from the outside with the gasket on the w/s frame and got it after a couple of tries. I haven't tried it with the gasket already on the glass and from the inside

Anyway, I have a tube of the urethane adhesive and I was wondering how much of it to put behind the lower molding. The previous owner made an absolute mess with it and I'm not sure how much is enough and what is too much. Same thing with the vertical pieces, I know there is supposed to be some back there but I don't want to go overboard.

TIA for any help, advice, and words of wisdom.

    Hey Bryan,

What problem did you have with putting the trim on after the windshield was in? Could you not get the trim to engage the clips?
I will be waiting to hear the comments as well, since I am going to put my first Midyear windshield in this weekend! I got all my stainless straightened and polished last weekend, and can't wait to get it all installed.

Didn't really have any problems John, I was hoping to avoid some. I've been reading lately that some guys have scratched paint and dinged their trim putting it back on so I thought I'd try a different approach. Being a novice I'm open to any suggestions. If something happens to my freshly polished trim I won't be able to afford to go out and get it redone so I need an idiot-proof, one-shot deal to get 'er done.

BTW, the trim lined up perfect and I can see that everything is clipped in right. I reused one original clip and the rest are new. Just wondering what a PITA it will be to get the glass in, I'm waiting on my neighbor to get home.

Are you coming to H-town for the Corvette Expo this weekend?

        Bryan,

It kind of depends on the weather. If the weather turns out fairly nice, we will probably stay in town and try and get the paint on Tom Wander's 67 chassis. If it turns out crappy, we may come to Houston. I will drop you an Email later in the week if I am coming.

I am also going through this excercise. Where did you get your lower w/s moulding clips? Please post your progress on installing the w/s with the lower moulding in place. I have put several in but never with the moulding already installed.
