    Shermersheim's Back Orders

Has anyone ordered a Shermersheim's jigged front in in the last several months and how long was the lead time?

I can't seem to find any info on this subject.

I read on another board that someone had contacted him last week. At this time there is a 16 week wait.

I have been using them for many many years but because of their not being willing to fill your order until they have several i have been using The Corvette Image out of California. They are very courteous and comparable on pricing and i almost forgot, less than 2 week delivery. I have been very happy with their product

Interesting. My car has been in the shop 15 weeks waiting on a front end and I'm at point to where I'm losing my frame restoration space I had lined up due to this. Not a happy camper today. This little problem is going to set me back 24 months on my 65 frame off project.

Would have been nice to know this 15 weeks ago. I can't begain to say how pizzed off I am today. Rant Off.

On Hoods they are running 14 weeks as of Jan. Quality is really good.

I highly recommend Wayne Womble from New Hill , North Carolina who has jigged many midyears with Corvette Image pieces. I 'm not sure of his turnaround , but he does quality work.

Corvette Image is in Oregon 1-800-550-1200, call them they are very nice people. I bought a front lower panel for my '61 and drove there to pich it up, they gave me the full tour of the moulding process.

I have talked to Wayne before nice guy. Wish I had that option.

I will talk again next week with my body shop but my front end has already been ordered and paid for I'm sure.

I don't know what to think at this point, need to see what my options are next week. Really bottom line is I have no options:

                1. someone has my car
                2. someone else has my front end
                3. I have money invested in the process
                4. I hang out with no clue as to what is going on and can't get any answers

                  Re: Shermersheim's Back Orders

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, I am also at the mercy of the parts suppliers. Both have had a difficult time keeping up with demands. I am working hard to keep up with my CI orders, along with my shop work, but by the time that I recieve the parts, the orders are already several weeks or months old. I get them out as fast as I can, and actually get caught up before the next batch arrives, but this puts the turn around time out there. Believe me, no one could want to fill an order off the shelf more, but it aint going to happen for the foreseeable future. I have been building these fronts for more than 25 years and always thought the bubble would burst at any time. I thought all of them would have been restored and done with by now, but I never dreamed that the prices would go to these levels, and people would be building junk yard bodies into show cars, clones and resto-rods. All I can say is hang in there. It is fortunate that the parts are available. I went through some hard times trying to locate parts when they were not.
