C2:67 Help! Alternator Brace, 67 Base Engine

I posted this picture recently, and was told that my alternator adjusting brace looked incorrect with too much curve in it. The picture is with a correct restoration belt 53.25" 7/16" top width, although I have aftermarket aluminum pulleys I put on for my Vintage Air system

The brace is a Paragon GM restoration part #1779K with GM part number of 3882182 supposedly for 66-68 w/327 All. I looked back in my purchasing records and in the Paragon catalog.

However, when I got it, I noticed that the brace is larger and more curved then the brace I took off (which I think is my original). That brace looks more like the Paragon 1240K brace (3846861) from their catalog, which is for a 64-65.

I remember that with the original brace and stock belt, the top bolt was always within 1/2" of the outboard end of the brace slot.

So I'm going to try a shorter belt(52.5") to try to correct the alternator angle, as I think the aluminum pulleys have a lot to do with it. However, I'm still scratching my head over the differences in the braces.

    Very late 67/327/300 no A/C (22049)

    Jerry,
I have the original brace for my 67-327-300 no AC.
Would you like a photo of it?

      C2:67 Here's Mine

      John,

This is the one I took off and believe is my original. The dimension in the picture is 13-3/4" out to out. Would appreciate a picture and verification of that dimension. I'll email you with my address.

The 1779K from Paragon which I have on the car now (photo in above post) is about 3" to 4" longer. I'm thinking that maybe they just sent me the wrong one.

      Thanks in advance.

        OK Jerry,
I'll take a shot of it and email it. Maybe you can then post it.

I'm not at home and can't take a measurement, but here's a photo of the brace from my '66 327/300 no a/c car that you might use to compare:

            something interesting on Alt, Brace,66,67&68

I think you will find that the brace and alternator for 66,67 300 and 350 horse left hand mounting are the same. Same but possible different........ The 66 is generally has alternator clocking with the top mounting hole and the rear case opening at the top. Now on 67 this can also be true or also find as Jerry picture shows with alternator clocked looking from drivers position with the rear section cw 90 degrees. I don't have a 66 assy manual to see if GM calls these two year alternators (66&67) the same p/n. 67 manual calls p/n 1100693 and on page B4 in UPC6 shows clocked as Jerry has it. Now in 68 same p/n and clocking is rotated back 90 degrees, how did GM keep this straight? But 68 does use a different brace completly.

              Hi Jerry,
I checked mine and it's 13 3/4 inches like the one you posted.

The 66 AIM calls for the same alternator brace p/n as you list for 67: 1100693. Thanks for the information on clocking the alternator. Here's a shot of my 66 from the rear to go along with the photo posted earlier (keep in mind this is a 66 base motor car):
