The EARLY 1963 lower a-arms had no reinforcing plate welded on the forward, inner vertical surface, just rearward of where the stabilizer bracket is attached. Later 1963 and all 64-82 had the reinforcing plate. So, when did the change occur? My GUESS would be ABOUT March, 1963.
As far as the control shafts go, there were 2 style shafts used over the entire 63-82 period. One style shaft had a more-or-less "I" beam configuration. The other style was "flat", with no longitudinal "channel". Both of these style shared the same forging number. I believe that these styles were used interchangeably over the whole 63-82 period. However, one style or the other predominated during any given period. I don't know which style predominated during the 63-64 period. However, whichever style it was, I think that it was the same for both years. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
