The speedometer in my '63 Roadster after installing the correct cluster and going for a test drive, started after a few miles began a loud whirring, spinning sound, the needle going from zero to 160 (really, I was only going about 60)and then pegged out and broke off the orange tip of the needle, but the chrome hub in the center was still intact. Does anyone know where I can buy a new, or rebuilt speedo head? I have a working '65-67 speedo. Will the speedo head on the '65-67 work? If not, where can I send it to a reputable place for a rebuild? Are the '63 and '64 speedo heads the same? THANKS!! I just want to drive my '63 and not get popped.

Re: '63 Speedometer
There are still independent AC-Delco/United-Delco speedometer shops alive and well in the US who not only have the parts but the original calibration machine to repair speedos. Here in Denver, it's Deluxe Speedometer and you can either send/carry-in the speedo or make an appointment with your car for a complete R&R job done turn-key. Everyone seems to look for a Corvette specialty shop for these jobs when Mr. Goodwrench's authorized rep is alive and well out there working efficiently...- Top
