I had an offer of 1500 but out of my budget.

block the heat riser cross over in the intake manifold and remove the heat riser valve and you will have a different sound.

            Dave,

I put factory sides on my car in 96 or 97. I ordered the whole works from Corvette Pacifica out of CA. The pipes were drop shipped from a place as I recall in the midwest. At that time would these most likely be 1 1/2 or 2 inch baffles. Is there a way to know once they are on the car ?

When I was looking last year I could not find anybody that repo'd side pipes with the correct size inner baffle. So my guess is that yours will be the 2" variety. The easy way to check is just to look. Look down the pipe from the chrome tip end and you can see the inner baffle. There is a big difference visually from the 1 1/2" baffle to the 2" one.

Chuck, I blocked the crossover and have no heatriser. They were just too loud and not rumbly or whatever the word is. The new ones are better but not like OEM

Just had to have the 69 factory exhaust for my original owner 70 Corvette and put them on about 74. I lived in Dallas then and bought a complete set from a guy that had them on his C2. Eventualy replaced all the chrome pieces and bought new side pipes from GM. New they were not to loud, however eventually the side pipes lost all of the internal baffeling and functioned as expansion chambers for the exhaust over several years and were loud. Having a 350/300 with turbo 400 and 3:08 the sound was bearable at interstate speed with the air on.

I should make a ringtone for cell phone with that music.
