I now have the tube in hand.(Thanks to a very nice vette guy). It has a good patina and matches up well on my 70 in regard to bends/fit.
Unfortunately I didn't get the piece in time to bring it to the Old Town event, to check it against a judged original piece. I thought the next logical step would be to contact the NCRS leader of 1970, and/or my local NCRS person, for some direction, or a contact. Haven't heard anything yet. Still hopeful. I understand everyone has lives outside the corvette world
I also contacted a vender or two in regard to making the piece. Understandably, without being able to confirm my piece as original, or at least the same as known originals, venders are hesitant to invest in the venture.
I'm just glad there's interest to make it, purely to provide it to nuts like me. It certainly isn't to get rich making it.
