    1963-67 Carpet

Hello; To the best of my knowledege there is No correctly woven repro carpet on the market today. The ORIGINAL carpets I have seen are all woven in STRAIGHT rows as to a random weave. I was talking with the mill that makes the carpet for Al Knock and others and they told me that they can change the weave from random to straight! Can some of you guys send me some samples that I can forward onto Al Knock so we can get EXACT reproduction carpet sets for our cars. Also, Please confirm my thoughts as to what is right and what is wrong. Thanks, Andy

    Andy,

Getting the weaves corret is only half the battle here. The actual material the carpet iteself (Al Knock's) is TOO SOFT, original carpet had a more course feel. The binding on the repros should not go all the way around ont he cutouts for under the seats only half way and finally the binding in the back under the windows on the rear wall should not be there...no bindings...I THINK on the top... Bill Sangrey has some original carpets and has been showing me some of the differences. So much more then just the weave needs to be improved. Don't forget the carpet on the door panels too...
