    Fan clutch 71 Lt-1 ?

    Is the original part No. for a correct fan clutch 343721 ? Are the fan clutches the same for LT-1 and the base motor? I am trying to find one for my 71 LT-1.Is there any available form GM or after market that are close to original.Thanks for any help, Bob

      No, the GM #343721 was not originally used on any 1971 Corvette; it didn't even exist at that time. Notwithstanding what the AIM might say, I believe that the GM #3991426 was the fan clutch used for all 1971 Corvettes, regardless of engine or installed options. The 3991426 was a one-year-only item. As far as I know, there are no fan clutches on the market today that are similar in configuration to the 3991426.

              An EXCELLENT replacement from a FUNCTIONAL perspective is a GM #88961765. However, it's not configured anything like the original. FUNCTIONALLY, it better than the original, though.

                  Thanks for the info. I am having the radiator re-cored and found the fan clutch to be bad[ not a original ]. I'll go with the 88961765 until I can find a original 3991426. wish me luck. Thanks again Bob
