    C2 Headlight Bracket pn?

Just notice that the small bracket that supports the motor and is the ground source at one end while the other end has the rubber isolation bumper ("spacer & grommet asm") is not the same as my extra NOS items.

MY parts book (71) and the 64 AIM calls for pn 3794287, "retainer" These have a bend on the end where the rubber bumper is while the rest is straight directly to where the motor and ground is attached.

Now for the question, the ones on my car have a second bend located just before the motor/ground attachment area. Did 63 have a different configuration, are there different pn in an early Parts Book ??

    Thanks
    Alan

I don't know about the bracket on 63 being different but the ground is supplied by the black wire from the harness secured to the motor case with a short screw.

      Alan------

I can find no predecessor part number for the 3794287. However, that does not say that the 3794287 did not change somewhat over the years of its manufacture. Sometimes, specifications for a part change, alternate specifications are found on the original drawing, or non-engineering changes occur.

        Thanks Joe,
That makes it perfectly clear! I believe you are saying that life was not perfect on the factory floor, as I've always suspected.

Since both of my brackets have the same bend and the headlights work just fine - I will leave them that way since if I try to make them per the book things may happen. See I'm learning in my old age to leave it alone and stay out of trouble.

        Again thanks for help.
