66 convertible rear carpet ??????

Hi to all. I have fixed up the rear compartment on my 66 convertible after a half-shaft u-joint let loose and did some significant fiberglass damage to the rear storage area. Here is the question. I just got new Al Knoch carpet for the rear, along with the underlying sound deadener. Does this carpet go all the way down to the lip where the rear storage lid rests? Or does it sit a little above the lip or even withe the lid? There is just enough play in the carpet to extend all the way to the lip. I have referenced my 66 judging guide and it doesn't mention anything. Any help here is appreciated, especially from those of you with original carpeting in a mid-year. Mine USED to be original until the half-shaft poked its ugly head through the back fiberglass and pulled the carpet and started to unravel it.

Just checked my wife's '65. The sound deadener extends over the horizontal lip and stops. The carpet covers that and at the rear of each well even droops over to the vertical for about 1/2". This is an orginal carpet with the Stevens tag. Hope this helps!
