    V74 install 1966 C2

I am trying to install the V74 flasher option in my 66. I understand the 5/8" dia hole has to be 2" above the centerline of the emerg brake because of the e brake bracket bracing (ref UPC V74 A1).
According to my measurements this will put the knob ABOVE the bottom edge of the dash cluster. Also the emerg brake bracket is 1 5/8" from the back of the cluster and the flasher shaft and knob is 1 3/4" long when extended. I am concerned even at the 2" location the knob is going to interfere with the back of the dash cluster. I have moved the emerg brake bracket as far back as it will go in the slots to get the max clearance.
Could someone take some measurements and tell me this is going to work.
FYI I am using a Signal Stat 105Y133 which I assume is the correct unit.

Also what is the best way to drill that 5/8" hole. I am thinking not a drill (possible damage to dash) but maybe a chassis punch.

I found (too late!) the the interference point is the radio capacitor rather than the lower edge of the dash cluster when complying with the 2" on-center dimension. Had to use a couple of flat washers as shims to lower the emer brake bracket slightly. This gave me about 1/8" clearance from the cap when pulling the knob out to activate flasher. If you can cheat somewhat on the 2" dim without interference on the box/flasher ass'y behind the bracket, this might help.

Regarding the 5/8" dia hole -- I was able to drill it without removing the assembly from the car by locating with a center punch, followed by a couple pilot holes, and finishing with a 5/8" high-speed steel drill with reduced shank to fit 3/8" drill gun chuck.

      Tim,
Thanks for the input. Yes I noticed the radio capacitor and have rotated the mounting clamp 180 deg so that the capacitor is higher and shouldn't interfere.

The washers/spacers sounds like a good idea. I was thinking I may have had the wrong parking brake bracket (I have already corrected the incorrect hood release bracket).
