I removed the power window regulator from my "61 and the spring fell off. Can anyone guide me to reset the tension and if I need to "lock" it in place while installing the motor. thanks

Re: C1 power window regulator ??
There is a nice article on solid axel power windows from Mike Ernst in the corvette restorer. You have to tension the spring while it is out of the door.Take the arm with the spring in it with the arm 90 degrees to the bolt in bracket. Then tension the arm until you can get a bolt in the hole on the arm and the rear bottom hole in the bracket. You then hold it in place with a bolt. It goes thru a hole in the regulator arm and into the rear lower bolt hole. Put the bolt in backwards and then after you install the regulator and the other 3 bolts are installed you remove the last bolt and put it in. It is quite a trick getting all of that in and then bolting the motor on is even more fun. Be patient or maybe take a valium before you start. I found the article on the corvette restorer CD under windows. Good Luck- Top

Re: C1 power window regulator ??
Tom, Thanks for the lesson. After a little practice, and holding on for dear life with that spring installed, I got both of the regulators installed just fine. For anyone removing a motor for the 1st. time, it's good to know about that backward bolt to keep every thing together.- Top
