    58 Convertible Top Weatherstrip

I have a question on the side rail weatherstrip. The new front rubber piece and retainer strip I got from CC have three holes. Only the rear hole in the rubber and strip matches a hole in my frame piece(near hinge point). Also, that hole in the frame piece doesn't align well, from the outside edge, with the holes in the next frame piece. In all the pictures I have rounded up of the front side rail piece and attachment to the windshield bow, my parts look right. Mine looks exactly like those in the photos that I have found, including the slight offset between the outside edges of the two rails at the hinge point. Do any of you have any words of wisdom or photos? Did CC send me the wrong front rail weatherstrip rubber pieces and retaining strips?

    Thanks

I dont think you will find any really correct stuff for a 58. I had five days in the last 57 that I did, as a result of all the different and incorrect stuff that is really for the later models. The front W/S, the front corners, the side rails, etc. etc., all different. The list goes on and on.

Its really all 59-62 stuff for the most part

      A little known fact.
Not every original GM Corvette parts will ever be re-made in every variation found on the planet earth.
No one has pockets deep enough.
      Not even GM.

This is something you don't see , original soft top weatherstripping . Cloth covered side window rubber that is a one piece soft rubber header unit having the round separate filler that is added to stop water leakage. NO one repro's the original weatherstripping %99 of 56 to 60 Corvettes use and have the repro 61-62 design that leaks at the window header. 56 to 60 used a ONE piece unit not the three piece the 61 to 62 used. It's not judged so it only matters if you drive your Corvette and it rains. Pic from my original 57. Questions??

I sure would like to see a similar picture of how the three pieces are mounted since it sounds like I have to use them.

          Thanks
