    Mid C3 radiators

I'm preparing a radiator/cooling system article in the argentine corvette club to help other owners. Know early shark's radiators as in my 70 coupe and have many good post from this board, but don't have enough info about 73 to 79 radiators. Any info about them would be appreciated. I'm showing original number, type, etc. All best from Argentina.

    Roberto,

I have a '78 L48 with TH 350 and A/C. When I bought the car 2 years ago, the radiator was in bad shape. The first thing I had done was had it repaired and rodded out. At the time, I thought it was original. I have since tried to find any identifying numbers, but have not been able to. I believe there is supposed to be a tag on the passenger side, near the top, but I don't see one, unless it is under the seals. I'll give you any help I can if you can tell me where to look.

    Greg.

Thanks Greg, I know that some mid 70 sharks have Harrison radiators, perhaps all and some have a Harrison logo embossed in it. Should be very easy to spot, but I'm not sure...

        Roberto,

I'll check the radiator over closely this weekend and look for anything that might ID it.

        Greg.

          Roberto-----

ALL 1973-79 Corvette radiators were manufactured by Harrison and all were of brass construction. All had integral filler necks and none used an external supply tank. Plastic coolant RECOVERY tanks were used during these years, though. A synopsis of 73-79 Corvette radiator usage is as follows:

          73-early 76------ GM #3030199 (code "MC")

          late 76 exc AC

          77-79 (exc HD radiator

          77-78 (w/AC exc L-82)----GM #3035558 (code "MK")

          late 76 w/AC

          1977- early 79 w/w/L-82 and AC

          77-early 79 with HD radiator------GM #3035856 (code "ML")

          late 79 w/L-82/AC or HD radiator---GM #3043087 (code "FW")

late 79 except HD radiator---------GM #3053440 (code "FF", "FN", "FP", "FR")

Thanks Joe, great info. Interesting that LS4 engines don't use a different radiator as in early shark BBs. I can only especulate that those mid sharks with heavy emission components need all the same rads.

              Roberto----

The 73+ radiators were roughly equivalent in size and capacity to the 66-72 big block brass radiators.
