Need Road Tour Reality Check

Folks,

I'm going to (assuming my application is accepted) be flighting my 1985 at the National Convention. I'm also thinking of doing the NCRS road tour. Is this insane? Is this just trying to do too much? Is anybody else doing the road tour and being fight judged? Has anyone done this before?

Wow! Makes my concern for my 'generic' 1985 look kind of silly - thanks for your response. I guess I'll be seeing you on the road in July.

Check your insurance before going. Be sure you have enough miles left if collector insurance and that you are covered on the trip.

Not insane at all. Some of my most enjoyable moments have been on National Road Tours to the convention. Drove a 65 from Long Island to Sun Valley and top flighted the car and also received the Sam Folz Memorial Award for longest distance driven...9 days out...a great trip with great people. That was only one of the road tours I've driven to the convention. So drive it and enjoy the friends you'll make on the tour!

I've joined the road tour to Boston and I'll be having my 67 judged. Also did the 2004 Road tour to Windsor & flight judged it.

Dependign on the exact route, I may join the RT with my 72 Bowtie car when we bring it to Boston for its 5th Star.

A lady and her daughter drove her 60 on the Road Tour from the Boston area to Park City, Utah in 2005, got a top flight and drove it back home. As I remember, she was not the only one.

Drive the car, enjoy the tour then enjoy the convention.

Duntov Sam Foltz and longest driven for me

I drove 1700 miles to get to the start of a road tour then 1500 with the road tour to Galveston 2002 with a 73. I got the Longest driven,Sam Foltz,and the Duntov Mark of Excellence. I also got the fifth star Bowtie and Founders with another 73 by driving 500 miles with a road tour. Enjoy your ride and take the road tour its the most fun of any NCRS event.

John, that was Kathy Ilowiecki and her daughter that drove from Massachusets and joined us on the Road Tour that kicked off in Indepencence, MO.

I drove from Houston to Indepencence to join Dana at the start of the Mid-America Road Tour and Kathy and I each Top Flighted at Park City. I'll drive to Boston in July so I'll look for you on the Tour.
