If you were looking for 1972 Virginia passenger car plates for your Corvette "...who you gonna call"? I have so far only found collectors who prefer to trade rather than sell.

In Ohio, I can usually find all I need at estate auctions and garage sales. Don't forget the antigue shops.

Check Hemmings under license plate restorers.

...I recall one in Ohio that restored plates as well as sold them. Look under services offered and look for license plate restoration. If the restorers don't sell them they can tell you who does. Here in MA, you are allowed to use YOM plates as a vanity plate. You're supposed to used real, unrestored plates but no one (RMV or MSP) seems to know that or care so you can just get a set made which are brand new, undetectable and you can get the numbers you want.

I guess soon we'll start bickering over phony vintage plates as well as engine pads and paint.

OH NO!! I can see it now:-). FL allows the use of antique plates as well,,there a different color depending on year, which is a nice touch. STW, Mike

Hi George, I used this guy to buy several "Original" license plates for my cars. His name is Bill Scholten and phone # is (616) 875-8553. Although he is from Zeeland Michigan, he does have other states as well. He also does license plate restoration. Good luck. Dennis

Ebay has an entire section under "Ebay Motors" for license plates. I don't know if you can find what you want there, but a "friend of a friend" has been buying quite a few from guys on Ebay. Best of Luck Jeff '74 Coupe wearing original '74 Texas plates (or will be when re-assembled)

As a rough guide, I bought a pair of never used Ohio '64 plates in the original envelope for $25. Seemed reasonable. Newer ones should be less. A called a guy out of Hemmings, I believe he was in Columbus, OH. He had a boatload of them from all states. Good luck.
