Re: 63 hubcaps
Bill,
I don't know the paint code GM used, but the closest thing I've found can be bought at pep boys or walmart in the automotive section. Go to the Dupli-Color Touch-Up Paint Product display and find color 88-00910 Artic Silver. It has the correct semimetallic and low gloss found on the original hubcaps
I think it's alot closer than the paint sold by the Corvette Supply houses. I bought some and was pretty disappointed. It almost looked like semigloss grey primer. Wrong.. all wrong.
The challenge will be in making the paint stick on the flash chrome finish of the hubcap. I use a dust coat of PPG DP50LF epoxy primer to start off with followed by the color coat.
These turned out pretty good.

Re: 63 hubcaps
Bill,
Did you know that the early hubcaps had a different configuration (besides just paint) than the later style and follow on service replacements?
If you have an early car that is supposed to have frosted hubcaps, they should also have a thick perimeter rim like the example on the left side of this picture.
Check yours see it they are the correct style before you paint them.

Re: 63 hubcaps
thanks for your replies, my shiny caps still have frost paint in the corners of the runners and all appear to be the same size. the wal mart paint does seem to match the caps that still have fairly good paint. will probably experiment a little as i have a couple in decent shape to compare them to.
thanks again
