How would I identify the proper jack for a '65 built in Nov. '64. I believe it takes a "type 1", but not sure how to id it. Thanks

Re: C2 1965 jack
Dave,
If you have the Noland Adams book...check out page 105. If your car is an early '65, it describes yours as having a solid handle(no holes)wrench assembly. The jack looks like it could have been one of a couple different variations, and would have a sealed ball bearing set up as opposed to the nylon washer sandwiched between two steel washers. Maybe the '65 juding manual has more specifics.- Top

Yes...
the JG book adds details. Both Type 1 and 2 jacks have the ball bearing vs. acetal resin bearing assy. But, the type 2 jack is identified by having reinforcement ribs on its lift arms while the type 1 jack is constructed of essentially flat stamped steel components.- Top

Re: C2 1965 jack
Eric:
I don't have a type 2 picture, but if you look at the picture of the type 1 I posted, the difference on the type 2 is on the trunion end. ( upper left hand side of my picture ) The trunion "u" is inverted instead of being outward on a type 2. The type 2 jack is just a tad shorter, due to this feature. Also, the type 2 has gussett reinforcements for strength on the lifting arms. To the casual observer, they look very much alike. I'll check my judging guide for correct application for you when I get home. It seems to me the cutoff for type 1 on a 65 was VIN # 12000, but can't be for sure until I see the JG. Will report later if no one chimes in with the info.Tom Hendricks

Re: C2 1965 jack
I was wrong on the VIN # 12000 cutoff for type 1 jack. My older 65 JG says type 3 was introduced after VIN 20000. I does not say when type 1 and 2 are to be used. I do know my February built 65 had a type 1.Tom Hendricks
