I've read all the archive posts, and I know this subject has been beat to death, but I'm still not clear on a few points. Does GM # 12377985 chassis lube apply to C1 steering boxes? My box is rebuilt, dry and installed in the car awaiting fill...If I pump it in with a grease gun, it seems to me that the lube will not get in all the nooks and crannies because of it's viscosity, also will it settle enough to get an accurate fill level determination? Maybe I'm making too big a deal out of this?

I use 90W. I think that's what the owner's manual reccommends. Have you tried looking there? Lots of "new and improved" lubricants are out there but you don't have a "new and improved" Corvette.
