C2 wipermotor

Today i tested my wipers after a had taken out my wiper trans. The wipermotor did make a tap (tick) The sound is comming from the pump for the washers.
The only thing i've done is to put out the wiper trans inside the car and now it make this noise.
I must say that the steeringcolumn is out off the car (incl. the cables for the horn and turn switch)
My ignition switch is out off the car (bought an orig. one) and not connected.
The wipermotor has had worked first-class before.
Is it mybe a ground wire?

The wipers will not operate without the ignition switch on or accessories.

but your copy of the '63 Corvette service manual tells you how to bench test the wiper motor, repleat with what power/ground and jumper connections to make to exercise the unit when removed from the car...

I'm fairly certain the wiper motor switch needs a good ground

I connected the asc. with the Bat. on the ignition switch. Does it need the ground also??? (on the ignition)

The ground wire originates at the starter motor mounting goes to the blower motor then to the wiper.
