Ignition switch receptacle lamp

I'm preparing for PV on my 67. One of the tests is the dimming and brightness lamp for the ignition key receptacle. The bulb works, it is new (1445) I can see that the bulb is working from under the dash, but the illumination from the front is very very hard to see. I can barely make out the light through the opening around the bezel. Should it be very bright? What has been the experience of the members regarding the pass or fail of this lamp during PV Testing.

Howard, the luminance of the bulb is difficult to see in daylight. We sometimes use a car cover over the windows to darken the interior somewhat while observing various illuminated functions. For the ignition switch, I use a rolled paper tube and look into it while the owner actuates the dimming function by rotating the light switch several times. If it works, it can be seen.

Thanks Nick. I'll try the rolled paper tube, I had the windows covered with a blanket in the garage. I think it was dark enough, If that's what it takes to "See the Light" then I may be OK.
