    C1 54 Control Arm

I'm at the stage of restoring my 54 chassis of reassembling the front suspension. While assembling the left lower control arm outer pivot bolt I noticed that the pivot bolt threads in the control arm are stripped.

Can anyone recommend a course of action short of control arm replacement (are they even available?)? Can these threads be repaired?

I searched the archives with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated!

53-62 corvette a-arms were picked off the chevy pass car shelf in the early 50's. ie, 49 thru 54 chevy pass car a-arms will interchange. go junkyarding. good luck, mike

Thanks Mike. I've tried the local junkyards and they don't have any good ones, pass or Vette, left. They're either bent or stripped threads like mine. Any referrals for repair shops?

Joe, try doing a Google searge for a 1940s - 1954 Chevy club, I saw one on the web once. I believe they have a vendor locator and classified ad section. Can't remember the name of the organization.

Hey, thanks Mike and Mike. I'll try both. I want to get this car running when the sun starts to shine.....Oh wait, it is shining and 78 degrees here in Socal! Sorry east coast.

              Try Bhantiqueauto.com (605)-749-2242

I called and they had a couple of cars with arms about a year ago. I think they even had some NOS ones. somewhere down south and the arms just needed a little paint.

When I needed one, I got it without any problem from Grossmuellers. Try www.gccorvettes.com to see their catalog, or call 908-213-8832 and ask for Carol.
