Re-stamped Holleys?

How does one differentiate a re-stamped Holley from an original? Are there ways to tell one from the other?

If one of the better carb builders has restamped it, it is virtually impossible to tell. Some of the earlier restamps had a bulge inside the air horn where the stamps pushed the metal in, but the later ones are stamped over a mandrel. There are some small differences in the bodies and castings of the later carbs, but they are very minor.

Dick,

Do you mean restamp as in taking an existing date or model and changing it to another, or do you actually mean stamping an un-dated carb for the first time with a vintage date?

If it is the former, who do you recommend? My 67 has a service replacement carb that I'd like to see with a correct date.

Joel, there are several that can change the date. I hesitate to recommend anyone in particilar, but I will tell you the best are the ones you never see advertisements for. They depend on word of mouth advertising and are always backed up several weeks/months.
