Timing Tab 88 C-4 ?

I had a deduct on my 88 because the timing tab was rusty.The manual does not state what finish if any should be on the tab.It just descibes the tab configuration but no color or lack of. Should it be painted the same as the block? Or left bare metal? Thanks in advance. Tom

This car only has 11k on it. So i'm pretty sure the tab is original.I can't imagine the tab being anything but bare metal?does any one else have a very low milage car they can look at? Thanks Tom

It is bare metal. The back of the tab has a line from the tape, where the black paint stopped. Just remove the rust with WD 40 or Vasaline.
