C2 Wiper assemblies installation

The 2 cone shaped assembies are inserted through holes in the body and three screws hold each one in place. The AIM indicates that glue was applied to the base of the cone, presumably to seal against water leaking in. What is the preferred way of effecting a seal here. I was thinking of using some body caulking/sealer on the outside seam made by the assembly and the hole.

When assembling my 63, I used 3M black strip caulk around the base and the bolt holes. I also installed the plastic boots on the outside.

Use some black body caulk available from you NAPA dealer and place it on the cone base before installation. It'll ooze into the hole seam and create a nice weatherproof seal.

If you have the wiper pieces out of the car I'd recommend that you weld the wiper drive arm to the shaft that passes thru the body. Presently it is peened onto the shaft and probably has some slop in it. This will tightened up the whole wiper action a little.....

Steve, what the C2 hardtop restores use between the stainless and the fiberglass is a product called Mortite, Weatherstrip and Caulking Cord. It comes in a wheel/spool and you remove what you need. It is ply-able and will fill voids. I picked some up at Lowes for about $6.00. It's 90 feet long.
