    '62 4 speed shifter removal

I need to remove the shifter. I've already removed the transmission so it would seem all I have to do is to remove the shifter knob and let the shifter mechanism drop (not literally) out. How do you remove the knob and is there anything else I need to do?

    Thanks

The knob unscrews counterclockwise just like a standard thread.

It is usually adviseable to remove the shifter assembly before the transmission is dropped. Otherwise the shift lever can get hung up on the tunnel and not allow the transmission to be pulled back.

      Don--
If you haven't removed the rubber boot, you'll need to work the reverse T-handle through the boot as well.
