What is the best way to preserve paper documents such as window stickers etc. Ive heard that putting them in plastic can actually harm them??

Take them to a picture framer and have them framed with acid free paper and backing. Also, ensure they don't touch the glass. Have the back made to allow easy access to the sticker. This way you can display it as well as get at it.

If you use the right kind of plastic, there is no problem storing them that way. I can not now remember what chemical is bad, but the answer should be here:
Also if you decide to frame the objects be sure to use a glass that has a UV coating. A good frame shop should know about that. Just like when restoring parts of your car, have a conversation with the person who will do the framing for you. If they seem to know what they are talking about, then you can trust them.
Never do anything to the documents that can not be reversed.Terry- Top
