Which bolt head(or bolt heads) are correct for the bolt on top of the ignition shield? There appears to be more than one. Thank you in advance. Dale

Your copy of the Judging Guide...
gives the answer:
".... The top shield is attached by a recessed hex-head bolt with an integral washer. Some known bolt headmarks are 'E' and 'L'."
Bottom line, GM had multiple suppliers qualified to provide fasteners to meet the various GM drawings that governed them. Which exact fastener was used on a given car at a given point in production history is not generally known.
Some producing plants might have favored one set of suppliers due to their closeness and lower freight-in cost considerations while other plants might have sourced from other qualified vendors.
The JG text shows we understand there were multiple vendors and tells you about two who are considered 'correct' for that application at that point in time. There may well be others....- Top
