    cast iron powerglide valve body

Does anyone have an idea how the valve body detaches from the bellhousing case I've got all of the bolts out and it just seems as though something else is holding it on or is it just stubborn? Any suggestions would be hepful Thanks John

If you did remove "ALL" the bolts , then it's just stuck on , give it a tap , it can be as you said stubborn. Why are you taking it apart?

Thanks, this helped. I'm replacing all the seals and gaskets. When I pulled the center casing off this ripped the front gasket apart.I have the whole gasket set so I figured I'd might as well replace them all. Thanks Roy!

Your getting serious removing the bell housing from the trans body. I never would or no reason to do that!!! But now that you did are you using the banana rubber gasket or did you get the little "O" rings?? Be extra careful when matting the two back to gather plus the shift piston fork L/S . Did you also replace the pump "O" ring?? And the torque Convertor "O" ring? One more thing did you open the clutch pack and inspect it?
