My 65 aluminum valve covers and overflow tank have been polished. What's the best way to get them back to original?

I'd try some very fine steel wool, or youcan send them out to one of several people who advertise in the driveline to have them re done. Costs under a hundred bucks. But if it was me I'd try to dull them up abit if I wanted a points things or just leave them alone cause to some of us they look good that way.

Re: valve covers
Glenn----
If what you want is "as correct as possible" restoration of the original finish, then I'd really suggest having the work professionally performed.
Jerry MacNeish (www.z28Camaro.com) would be an excellent source for the valve cover restoration. I don't know if Jerry does the radiator supply tanks, or not. You could always contact him and ask him. Otherwise, you might contact Tom DeWitt at www.dewitts.com. Tom might do restoration of an original tank, but I'm not really sure if he does this sort of work. I know that he can sell you a new, virtually perfect reproduction of the tank, correctly dated, if you should decide that you want to go that route. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
