    C3 Correct 69 Alternator Pulley

After a short search and a few bucks I have acquired a correctly dated 1100825 alternator for my October 3 1968 build date 1969 L68 w/TI. Yahoo!

Now the alternator I am removing is a 1100928 55A 1C07 from a 71 Firebird or GTO. It also has a deep grove pulley that I thought was correct for my 69, but is different. Which of these two is a correct 1969 pulley?

    Mike-----

If the car has power steering, the pulley on the left is the correct one. If the car has no power steering and no A/C, then the pulley on the right is likely the correct one IF it's 3-5/8" OD. If the car has A/C but no p/s, then likely neither pulley is correct. It's hard to be sure just by looking at the photos.

Also, please post a photo of the REAR of both alternators.

      Joe,

This is the alternator discussed in late November, early December. I was able to work out a deal with Leslie. I got her 825 and she got a fresh 884, both with appropriate date codes. The rear case is correct including the Delco logo, rectangular marking and flat screw hole. My car does have P/S and no A/C so it looks like I'll have to swap pulleys. The 825 is pictured on the right. I'll post additional pictures tonight.

Both pulleys are 3-5/8 diameter. The one on the right (bottom) has a part # 3829387-AI faintly stamped on the front. I can see the need for the groove to be farther forward on the P/S model.

Should the fan be black, silver, or zinc dichromate plated?

The fan should be galvanized steel (i.e. "silver"). Some may have been zinc plated and would, thus, still be "silver".

Rear case half on the right is the correct 1969 configuration. The one on the left is a much later unit.
