    Are they or are they not used on 69 BB with AIR?

    They are used to keep the exhaust manifold bolts from loosening up and causing a lot of racket. Vibration does this. I dont think an air conditioner or lack thereof would make much difference nor would the displacement of the engine block.

    P.S. Don't forget, I'm a C1 mouse motor man and don't know squat about big blocks, dump trucks or diesel locomotives. (steam engines yes. I used to help change their tires when I worked one summer many many moons ago)

          The big block french locks, originally GM #3860351, were not used after 1967.

            Mouse Motors

            Hey Dale, I hope you did not take one of my earlier comments about mouse motors to mean CHEV mouse motors! 283's and 327's have big pistons (or at least large total displacement) compared to the current crop of oversea mouse motors.

            Actually, even though I am a confessed big block addict, I am purchasing a 283 car even as we speak! My first solid axle - let the learning begin! Everett
