72 exhaust extensions

Just finished installing my new exhaust from Doc (great fit Doc!) and was wondering if anyone knows how far the extensions should stick out from the body? Also, what is the best way to get the extensions onto the pipe? It seems that I need to make the extension pipe bigger to slip on.

I like to see the exhaust tip about 1/2 inch past the top of the beisel but this is just my opinion. To make the pipe on the tip larger I bought an expanding tool at the auto parts store years ago. It is round with a bolt in the center that expands the pipe when tightened.

Factory original pipes had 'dimples' on them that seated in the 'notches' on factory original extensions and fixed the overhang distance...

Wish I had measured my 68 and my 70 to see how much of the extensions were extended from the factory. I just have them where they I think they look okay.
