    C-6 2007

I can't believe I'm asking this but... The wife has officially been bitten and we are seriously thinking about a new 2007 convertible (I love her!). Obviously cost is a big factor, and we are looking for a "base" convertible, auto trans for her. One local dealer can put us in one for aboyt 52K off the lot. We haven't committed yet, but we're close. What if any other options sould we really consider??? We must be crazy!!!

Ah-ha, another potential convert. It's all right to have two mistresses...but you're going to spend more time with the young one, and constantly speak your love of the old one.

If you are looking for a "base" convertible, be aware that in 2007, GM lumped the power top (~$2000 option in 2006) into the 3LT trim package. The only way to avoid the big hit for the power top (extreme decadence IMO ) is to drop back to the 2LT trim package. You will give up some desireable features with 2LT such as the heads up display and the heated seats (Don't laugh; I thought I would hate them, but it extends the convertible top-down season in Texas to practically year-round! ). Some dealers are currently knocking $8K off 2007 convertible window sticker.

And, there's rumors of big changes in 2008...base car HP is rumored to increase to 425, and Z51 to 435. Also, rumors of a "leather wrap" interior option in 2008 to eliminate the "plastic" look...current interiors have the usual plastic foam dash pad, interior trim, and leather only on the "seating surfaces" (the rest is vinyl).

I dint even consider buying a new Corvette with NO miles on it. I cant see taking the hit you take buying new. My 06 has power top ,GPS 3LT Paddle shift and every option you can get but for the chrome wheels I just added. Saved 16K with a few "K" miles on it and WAS perfect , it's has the 100K guaranty and cost 49K . After all dont we buy used Corvettes here-C12345's??
Remenber as soon as you drive off the dealer lot it's a used Corvette!!
      Good luck

I agree wiyh Roy except the chrome wheel part. The chrome wheels are a bugger to keep clean. The inside gets the brake dust on them and it looks like rust. You can't get it all off without taking the wheels off.It does not show uo nearly as bad on the standard wheels. JMHO. Tom

cleaning the inside of the wheels on a C-6

i bought a plastic handle "johnnie mop",the one you use to clean toilets and you can reach in and clean the inside of the wheels thru the spokes when you wash the car.

              Snow??!!...What's "snow"?...

Actually, I remember what snow is. We took the C6 on a long drive up through the mountains yesterday, and I could see some of the white stuff still in the tree line. But, the road was nice and dry, and curvy. I'm almost able to take a 15 mph limit turn at 45 mph with my Z51.

Snow...ya'll can have it all. Don't want to ever get close to it again if possible.

Hers's a tip. Remove the wheel and turn it over protecting the front side from getting scraped or nicked while working on the inside portion. Clean the inside area completely. Either buy Rejex or Zaino wax and use it (per their waxing instructions) on the inside area and back side of spokes. This will make the cleaning process sooooo.....much easier.
