    Mid Year Windshield Replacement

    Hi all,

Who is the best and most reasonable mid year (63) windshield replacement provider? One that will supply LOF date coded models.

    Thanks,

    Craig Willetts

        Craig,

Make sure you order the correct windshield, according to the production date of your car, if you are going to have the car judged, or what you prefer (clear or tinted).
Some time ago (approx 1 1/2 years) I ordered a clear windshield from O.E.M., but I received a tinted winshield. When I questioned the Vendor about it, they said, that they do not stock clear glass. I returned the windshield for full credit, except over $200 for shipping (100+ each way to Mich).
They may now have clear, also.
I have ordered a clear (correct for early corvette) windshield from Pilkerton Glass (800-848-1351- ask for Randy. They have a vintage glass dept.)
I will get it next week. Will let you know, if it's clear, as promissed.
According to the 1963 Judging Manual, page 58 and 59, early cars up to approx VIN 4000 were not tinted, that is, option A01 and A02 were not available.
A01: All glass was tinted, A02: Winshield tinted only.
My car called for "clear" glass, and the original glassin the car was clear (but cracked).
        It had a Y I date (Nov 62).
Hope this helps in deciding, which Vendor to use, both are well known...

        Rainer
