The grille ring on my 57 is cracked with a 1/4" chip missing off the edge. Can anyone recommend a repair method/shop to fix it. What would be a range of cost to repair & replate. Will a repair be easy to spot and will it be strong and lasting. Or is my best option a reproduction? Anyone who has been this route, your input will be appreciated.

Re: 57 Grille Ring
I was in the same "boat" several years ago with my 54 (same grill ring). My original fit great but was cracked and deeply pitted. I bought a repro, and just couldn't get it to fit properly. It was way too flat. There were 1 inch gaps at each end where it would not fit against the body. (the car was never hit in the nose either). I sent it back, and they sent me another, thinking that the first had gotten bent somehow. I had the same problem with repro #2. I finally sent my original to Martin's of Philadelphia for repair and rechroming. I got it back and it looked great. Also, and more importantly, it fit. That's been about 10 years ago, and the oval still looks great with no sign of the repair or deep pitting showing. Hope this helps. Chuck Gongloff1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
