    '57 heads

I'm rebuilding a '57 and have the original block but no heads. The engine is the base single-4bbl model. Unfortunately the heads are fairly expensive, about $1000 each, and are out of the question. I'd obviously like to keep the car as original as possible. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do? Should I put '57 fuelie heads on, which are much more reasonable or are there other model heads that are a closer visual match for the originals?

    Thx,

    Mike

The 1958 cylinder head casting #3743056 is very similar to your 57. The exception is that it has "two towers" instead of your original's "one tower". However, I don't know how difficult or expensive that these heads are to obtain. Other heads might be visually similar, but combustion chamber size might differ enough to create problems for you.
