    Thanks, Duke. I'll be sure to get that old fluid out of there.

    The car is in very good condition, but in the 8 years prior to our purchase, it hadn't seen much use (approximately 1500 miles). I suspect that no care or maintenance had been performed in those 8 years.

    It's strange hearing your description Bill because I too have the same exact problem in my 1982 Vette... Unfortunately, I have been through the u-joints as well as the bearings and I still have the noise... Actually, I changed the u-joint and checked the bearings but there is no play so I assume they are still ok... I will change my fluid now as everyone has suggested but then what if it's still there?? I was reading my manual the other day and saw something about clunks if the u-joint straps are over tightened but found no reference as to how tight is too tight... Anyone have any ideas on that??
