Greetings All, Should a 68 Corvette with an L79 (327cid/350HP) engine have a ceramic Ballast Resistor mounted on the inner fender panel on the driver's side? I am told it came that way from the factory and is used to step 12 volts down to 6 volts to prevent the points from wearing out. I am being told this is STANDARD EQUIPMENT from the factory. Your thoughts and opinions please. Thank you in advance, Kurt Bunting NCRS 26406 Sudbury, MA

Re: 68 Corvette Question
Kurt my original owner 68 327/350 L79 does not have what you describe. It came from the factory with a resistor wire from the fuse block on the engine firewall side to the coil. This special resistor wire replaces the ballast resistor used in earlier Corvettes. I don't know when Corvette made the change.- Top
