C3 NOS shoulder belt question

I bought some NOS shoulder belts for my '70. These are supposed to be for a '72. My question is about the white tag material: Is it supposed to be cloth-like, or are there some tags that have more of a Tyvek-feel to them?

I compared my belts to a buddy's original '71 and found that his had both cloth-type white tags and the Tyvekish ones.

Are my belts authentic?

GM sold replacement belts with webing that has a different pattern it looks like it has five stripes instead of three. From your description this may be what you have as I think the tags are different also.

Lyle - thanks. That's exactly what this sounds like. It does have 5 stripes in the weave. I wonder why it's different than what's was on the assembly line? Mark

The material for the tags changed sometime around January 1972. This and differences in the tag material is described in the new 4th ediiton of the 1970-72 Judging Guide.

Replacement belts were made till 1985 for sharks and by then the material was different so that is what GM parts sold.
