67 Tri-Power, What's the perfect date for my car?

    Hello,

I am looking at trying to finish building the correct restoration L-71 for my originaly equipped 67 435 Convertible.

As the factory would have produced it.....What would the absolute perfect dates be for the tri power carbs on my car with a build date of Nov 14th, and and engine assembly date of Nov 8th 1966?

    Thanks,
    Jacob

Jacob, my 1967 convertible, factory equipped with the L68 tri-power has the original Holley carburetors with date codes of 724 on both List 3659 end carbs, and 721 on the list 3660 center carb. My St.Louis built body has a body build date of H17 on the trim tag, with a VIN of 14XXX, which shows the carbs within 30 to 40 days of the body build date. The 3894387 Winters intake manifold has a casting date of 12-12-66. It was a 46,000 mile barn-find that was put up in 1979, so I'm about 95% sure the carbs are original. I posted a test pic on this board on February 25th of the carbs sitting on the intake, which should still be on this technical message board, if you go back to look today. The carburetors were restored by the Holley factory Custom restoration shop. Good luck with that sweet '67 restoration! Ridge.
Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .

      Jacob -

Anything in October would be "typical", but you could be ahead of that back to about mid-August (when 3x2 carbs would have started production) and still get full credit.
