    57 Ignition Switch

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I'm trying to get my ignition switch out of the dash and I don't find a detail of it in my ASM or the service manual. I see that it has a collar on it, but that the key slot piece must be removed first before the collar can come off. I also see the 2 holes in the key slot which I assume are what you release the slot with.

Can anyone shed any light on how to do this? I'm thinking there is probably a special tool for this, but I just don't seem to find it addressed anywhere.

Can anyone tell me how to get it released, or where I might find it in the books.

    Thanks,

    Ashley

insert a straightened paper clip in the upper hole then rotate the key counterclockwise and it'll pop out. original bezels only had one hole. mike

      Thanks Mike,

I was afraid it would be something that simple. Also, thanks for the tip on the 1 hole vs 2 hole.

        Ashley,

There is a tool for the bezel, although you can get by without it if you are careful not to mess the bezel up. The tool has 3 tips that fit into the bezel indents. Its nice to have to avoid scratches. I got mine from Zip @ $7.95.

          Ashley,
Cut and paste the link below into your browser for the tool. For some reason, you can't just click it to get there.
