    '62 T10 Transmission

I'm installing my T10 after a rebuild and was told that a liberal amount of white lith grease was used during the rebuild.

Would it be necessary or adviseable to drain the fluid after some use and refill with gear oil to remove the grease from the transmission?

    Recommendations ???

    Thanks

It's a good idea to change manual transmission and axle oils after 500-1000 miles of breakin, and this should remove the solids in the grease. Thereafter I change every 30-60K miles depending on how hard the service. Positraction axles in particular need periodic oil changes to remove clutch wear debris, and the friction modifier additive deteriorates with heat over time; 30K miles is a good interval.

Drain it hot just after shutdown and refill with SAE 80W-90 GL-5 gear oil. IIRC the T-10 capacity is 2.5 pints. T-10s are easy since they have drain plugs.
