I'm trying to estimate the date of production for my recently acquired 56 Vette, VIN 2117. As we know, production records for 56 Vettes are scarce.
OK, here is what I know. The dates for Canadian delivered 1956 Corvettes indicate that VIN 2096 was "built" on 5/4/56. Also, VIN 2152 was "built" on 5/14/56. I use the term "built" loosely, because these dates are somewhat confusing. For example: VIN 2241 was "built" on 5/10/56. This doesn't make sense, since VIN 2152 was "built" after 2241, according to these dates.
OK, lets assume that these dates actually represent the date the car was built. VIN 2096 has a date of 5/4/56 and 2152 has a date of 5/14/56. 5/4/56 was a Friday, so the next production day was 5/7/56. 5/14/56 was a Monday, so VIN 2117 would have been built between 5/7/56 and 5/11/56. VIN 2117 is 21 cars after 2096, and the math works out to roughly 11 cars per day during this week.
So, the production date for VIN 2117 comes out to Tuesday, 5/8/56.
