Fuse Question

For a 68 Corvette, are the small 1/2 inch long 5 amp fuses still available>
I have a couple of 2 amp but no 5 amp and don't know if they can still be purchased or if everything is the blade type now whihc obviously will not work in a 68.
What vendor might have these very short fuses?

You should be able to find them at any local auto parts store.

I thought the old style glass fuses were hard to find now in the irregular sizes
I will go to an Auto Parts store tomorrow and pick up a few just to have them on hand.

I am sure they are Kurt. What is the prefix?? SFE, AGC? I am away from my office and do not have the shop manual.

Prefix is AGC and it is 5 amp

Kurt, I would try Radio Shack. The last car fuse that small I took to NAPA, it was suggested I go to Radio Shack. Good Luck!

Did Radio Shack have those fuses?
I have a Radio Shack one mile from my home and I can go there tomorrow. To late to go tonight, they are closed.

I was not looking for that particular fuse, but it was a smaller one. They had alot of choices here. Good luck Kurt!

They are available Kurt. May be a little hard to find as everyone has gone to the ATC/ATO fuses. If you cannot find them locally, let me know and I will mail you a couple.

Those short fuses in 1968 & up to 76 also had a dot of tan or beige paint on the outside of the glass part of the fuse. I used to pull them out of late 60s and early 70s GM junk cars at the bone yard. If the one you have does not have the dot, just take a small model paint brush, cut the bristles to a point and put a dot about 1/16" diameter in the center of the glass with a tan or beige enamel paint.
