when i removed the powerglide from my ole 57 near 40 years ago, i didn't label the bellcrank. over the years i've accumulated a half dozen bell cranks. however, there are two styles laying on the workbench and i can't determine, from the parts books, which style is the original off the 57 vette. the bellcrank brackets come in two styles, A being a non-gusseted critter and B style being gusseted. can someone with an original bellcrank look and see which style i need to use. thanks, mike

Re: powerglide bellcrank--1957
thanks for great pictures, verle. the powerglide i'm dealing with will be behind a 250hp engine so i don't believe there is a bellcrank mounted on the FI base plate. go to the AIM RPO 579, sheet 3. what i'd like to see is a picture of Item B in that illustration.also, is the length of Item C 13 5/8" OL. Is Item E 7 7/16" in length?thanks again, mike- Top

Re: powerglide bellcrank--1957
Mike;
I wish I could offer more help than this, but, the only suggestion I have is to track down the current owner of Brent Ferguson's old 57 250hp automatic car. Also, perhaps his wife may still have the pictures of the restoration. I recall seeing the completed chassis, with drivetrain installed, at Cypress Gardens one year.
Any possibility that pictures of that chassis were taken for one of the publications that usually covered those events (Vette Vues, The Restorer, etc.)- Top

Re: powerglide bellcrank--1957
Mike,
I could not find the upper link.
Have pictures of the bellcrank and lower link.

Re: powerglide bellcrank--1957
Mike,
After going back over your earlier posts and looking at your question, I think 13 5/8" would be too long for the upper link (item E in the AIM picture)for an FI. That sounds more like a link for a 220 HP single 4-bbl engine.
I think the bellcrank and lower link is the same, just the upper link is different.
I hope someone else will speak up about this. I know there is some real expertise following this.

Re: powerglide bellcrank--1957
roy: lets see, in picture form, what you think the 57 PG FI bellcrank should look like. i see no reason why the carb bellcrank would need to be configured any differently than the FI bellcrank. what ya think roy? mike- Top
