    1956 Ride Height

    I am completing restoration of a '56. The car has everything assembled and rides on 6.70-15 bias ply tires. However the body ride height both front and rear seem high. Can someone provide some body-to-floor measurements.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hugh;

    If you have a copy of Noland Adams Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide, 1953-1962, there is a chart on page 201 that give lots of dimensions. Two you may be interested in are the height from the ground to the bottom is the front licence bumperette is 9.30 inches and the height from the ground to the bottom of the rear exhaust circular bezel (the part that surrounds the tail pipe) is 14.65 inches. Hope this helps.

    Just curious, are you willing to share what your VIN number is and when your car was built. I just bought VIN 2117 and I am tring to get an idea on when the car was actually build. Original engine is, unfortunately, long gone.

    Best of luck on your car.

        Hulon -

        The method and dimensions for measuring front and rear ride height are shown in the Assembly Manual in Section 3, Sheet 4.00.

          Most new repro C-1 springs even when installed correctly sit high. Could always heat the fronts Search the archives for 55 56 rear shackles or springs

            If you have repro front springs and rear from the wrong supplier that may be your problem (is the body on the frame)?
