Does anyone have any experience with the addition of the disc from a speed shop to the impeller? It is suppose to increase flow.

The discs about which you are referring rivet to the rear of the water pump impeller and are designed to reduce pump cavitation and increase flow. However, they are intended for use on the stamped and fabricated steel type impellers. Your 1967 water pump should have a cast iron impeller if it still has its original type and this type is not amenable to the addition of the disc. In fact, the cast iron impeller, by its very design, has a "built-in" disc, so adding another disc would be entirely superfluous.
It is possible, of course, that your pump has been retrofitted with a stamped steel type impeller by a commercial rebuilder. In that case, the addition of the impeller disc might prove beneficial. However, my bet would be that you still have the original cast iron version, even if the pump has been rebuilt. To check it, you will have to remove the rear cover plate. Do this carefully so as not to damage the gasket if at all possible. These gaskets are no longer available from GM, but you can get them from Dr. Rebuild. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
